DAY 01 .../LIMA

DAY 02 LIMA / JULIACA / PUNO

Transfer to the airport to take the flight to Juliaca. Arrival and transfer to Puno, located one hour south city. On the way we will appreciate the Chullpas de Sillustani, ancient funeral tombs in front of the Umayo’s lagoon. Arrival to Puno. Free day at leisure and acclimate to the altitude. DAY 03 PUNO

In the morning, transfer to the main port of Puno to start the fast boat trip and navigate across the Titicaca Lake. Out first stop will be Taquile Island, where we can appreciate the customs of the local population and the beautiful landscapes in the major lake, then we will stop at Luquina Chico to enjoy the lunch buffet and appreciate a typical community. In the afternoon on the way back to Puno we will stop over the floating islands of the Uros, made of reed or lacustrine cane. Accommodation. | Meals: (B/L/-)

DAY 04 PUNO / CUSCO

Transfer to the Terminal to take the bus to Cusco. The trip takes about 10 hours, visiting: Alcra Pukara Museum, located 100 km north of Puno, we can find a ceremonial center consisting of terraces. The tour continues to La Raya, is the highest part of the route and it is possible to see beautiful snowy landscapes and fauna of the place. It is also the geographical encounter of two cultures, the Quechuas and the Aymaras. Lunch in Sicuani and time to rest. The tour continues to Raqchi, an archaeological site built in worship of Wiracocha. Magnificent work of architecture in stone and clay, one of the icons of the route. Finally, we arrive at the Church of Andahuaylillas, 40 km south of Cusco, its church, jewel of Baroque mestizo architecture is developed in Cusco, known as the Sistine Chapel of America for having its nave decorated and framed in gold leaf. DAY 05 CUSCO

Free morning in the Inca’s capital. In the afternoon the City Tour starts visiting the Korikancha Temple with the Church of Santo Domingo. Visit of the Plaza de Armas and entrance to the Cathedral of Cusco. The tour includes a visit to the 4 surrounding ruins: Sacsayhuaman, Q’enqo, Puca Pucara and Tambomachay. DAY 06 CUSCO / SACRED VALLEY / MACHU PICCHU

Day tour to the Sacred Valley of the Incas, visiting the ruins of Pisac and the picturesque market town of the same name known by its handycrafts by stone and wool. The tour continues to the different towns of the valley to Urubamba. Lunch Buffet in a local restaurant. Visit of the Fortress of Ollantaytambo with its terraces and spectacular view of the Valley. From Ollantaytambo will walk to the Train Station to take the Expedition Service to Aguas Calientes. Arrival at night, assistance and walk transfer to the hotel. Accommodation. | Meals: (B/L/-)

DAY 07 MACHU PICCHU / CUSCO

In the morning bus up to the citadel of Machu Picchu, one of the new seven wonders of the world. Guided excursion through religious, civil and military areas. Return to Aguas Calientes to take the train back to Cusco (via Poroy station). Arrival and transfer to the hotel. Accommodation. | Meals: (B/-/-)

DAY 08 CUSCO / IQUITOS


(DEPARTURES ON MONDAY, WEDNESDAY OR SATURDAY)

Transfer to the airport to take the flight to Iquitos. Arrival, reception and transfer to our office in Iquitos. An small briefing about the tour will be offered. Transfer in a boat to Heliconia Amazon River Lodge through the Amazon River. During the tour you will see the convergence of the murky brown waters of the Amazon River with the waters of the Nanay River. Enjoy the wonderful landscapes of the Peruvian jungle that accompany the small rural houses located on the banks of the rivers. After a few minutes of travel, we will make a short stop on the Island of Monkeys. The objective is to familiarize itself with the process of reintegration of primates into their natural habitat, as well as the development of their instinct for survival in nature. Appreciate the different species of monkeys that are completely in freedom within this reserve; without cages, where their statistics depend on the development of their ability to re-adapt to nature. After appreciating the effort of this group of people, we continue our journey for approximately 60 minutes by boat. Upon arriving at the lodge, our staff will welcome you and receive with a fruit juice from the region. Then, you will be processed with the check-in. Lunch with your first Amazonian meal. In the afternoon, we will start our first visit accompanied by our experimented guide through the reserve of Yanamono for an approximate time of 2 hours. During the peak of waterfowl such as the Turkey vulture (Cathartes Aura), the black-faced nunbird (Monasa-Atia), and with good luck, you can have small relatives like marmosets (saguinus fusicollis), the Titi (Callicebus) Mollock Mollock) and the squirrel monkey (Saimiri Boliviense). We will depart back to the lodge to enjoy a few hours of rest and relaxation, and you will be very soon for your first sunset in the Amazon. At nightfall, If we find a clear sky, we can appreciate the splendid brightness of the moon, as well as the stars and constellations. Back to the lodge for dinner and rest and recover energies for the next morning sunrise activities. Accommodation. | Meals: (B/L/D)

DAY 09 HELICONIA AMAZON LODGE

We start the day with the bird watching excursion, discovering how you can see the different birds in search of their morning foods, starting early by boat to one of the ravines where you can see the largest variety of birds. You can see several species such as the Tuki (Jacana Jacana), the Ringed Kingfisher (Ceryle-Torquata), the black-collared hawk (Busarellus nigricollis), among others. After returning to the lodge for an energizing breakfast and a short break, we prepare to be part of the Artisanal Fishing expedition, for which we will move to one of the tributaries of the Amazon River, where we will learn the artisan fishing techniques, as well as the Piranha hunting. If the expedition was a success, you can carry it out for your presentation during lunch. Also, during this excursion we will have the opportunity to appreciate the friendly pink river dolphins (Inia Geoffrensis). We return to the lodge to enjoy the typical lunch of the region. In the afternoon, we will make a short boat trip to a lake on Yanamono Island, where we can appreciate the majestic Victoria Regia, the queen of water lilies. Also known as the Victoria Amazónica, this native shallow-water flower from the Amazon River basin grows mostly in lakes and marshes. We will probably appreciate some white flowers on their first day of flowering, to break the pink color on their second day. This imposing plant of lakes and swamps can grow up to 40 cm in diameter and is pollinated by beetles. The Victoria Amazónica is well known for its immense circular leaf, which is usually shown with a child sitting in the center of its leaf with the sense of power appreciated for its magnitude and strength. At night, dare to walk through nature within the perimeters of the lodge and will be witness of the transformation of the day jungle to night jungle. You will appreciate how nature adopts a different character and observe the different habits of nocturnal animals in the jungle. It is the best time to appreciate frogs, timid snakes and other creatures that only move during the night. We can differentiate a completely different range of fauna from what is usually found during the day, listening to the magical sounds of insects, birds, cats and owls. After 30 minutes of travel, we will return to the lodge to enjoy dinner and rest pleasantly. Accommodation. | Meals: (B/L/D)

DAY 10 HELICONIA AMAZON LODGE / IQUITOS / LIMA / ...

Enjoy an excellent breakfast before starting the visit to a rustic Amazonian Trapiche, a transfer by boat for 10 minutes takes us to a still located on the banks of the river. They will show us how the inhabitants of this area process sugarcane extract using horses and fermented cane juice in wooden barrels, which in a given storage time becomes liquor. Try the variety of exotic regional drinks that are obtained from the liquor of sugar cane and its molasses. We will return to the lodge for our farewell lunch, proceed with the check-out, and leave for the Iquitos airport and take the flight to Lima and connections. | Meals: (B/L/-)
